A Message to our Oakland Symphony Leadership


Dear Friend:

Thank you for you patience and support as the Oakland Symphony adjusts its concert schedule in the wake of COVID-19 and shelter-in-place restrictions. As restrictions relax, we continue to look for opportunities to restore live music to this community. Updates to the 2020-21 season are should be available by mid-July.  Please check back for updates and look for e-mail messages from the Oakland Symphony.

You still hold tickets for the Paramount Theatre performances where were to have been performed on March 20 and May 15. While every option was explored to re-schedule those performances this fall, it is now clear that large public gatherings will not be possible until later this year at the earliest.

It is important that you realize the full value of your tickets. There are several options available if you respond before June 30, 2020:

  • Please consider donating the value of your tickets to the Oakland Symphony’s annual fund. Your tax-deductible donation adds to the financial stability of your Oakland Symphony, perpetuating the educational and community missions of your orchestra.
  • When you donate your tickets, you will receive two free vouchers (per ticket) to selected Oakland Symphony performances in 2021 and 2022. Share these with friends and neighbors and welcome them into the Oakland Symphony family.
  • If you would prefer a refund, you may request one by calling the Box Office.
  • Any additional financial contribution that you can make is especially valued at this time.


The donation of the value of your tickets will help ease the Oakland Symphony’s financial pressures during this difficult time. (If you would prefer a refund that will happily be provided.)

Donating the value of your tickets requires no action on your part.   After June 30, 2020, we will presume that you prefer  to donate your tickets and this summer you will receive a tax credit letter thanking you for your generous gift.

The Oakland Symphony has faced uphill challenges before.  Because of supporters like you, the Orchestra has always emerged stronger and more deeply committed to this remarkable community.   We are all looking forward to the moment when we can again fill our schools with great music, and welcome you back for joyous concerts.
