In the first session of the 2017 Summer Sing-Ins, Michael Morgan will conduct Brahms’ Requiem.
A German Requiem (Ein deutsches Requiem), by Johannes Brahms, is a large-scale, seven movement work for chorus and 2 soloists. A German Requiem is sacred but non-liturgical: Brahms himself chose the texts from the Martin Luther Bible. It is unlike the traditional Latin Requiem, as its title states: Brahms’ Requiem is in the German language. Brahms also created a piano 4-hand accompaniment.
