The passion and vitality of Mexico will fill the Paramount in the next installment of our ground-breaking “Notes from” series. We’ll play some of the most popular symphonic works by Mexico’s major 20th century composers, including the country’s lively unofficial second national anthem, Huapango. Award-winning pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner – a Juilliard-trained phenomenon still in his teens – will play the spectacular and rarely performed Piano Concerto of Carlos Chávez, and rising Latin singer/songwriter Diana Gameros will serenade us with soulful songs from her native land. This year, we’ve also invited dancers to join us!
“[Sanchez-Werner is] already a premier pianist: beautiful musicality, masterful technique, and a veritable deluge of sonorities.”
