Pre-concert talk by John Kendall Bailey from stage starting at 7:05 pm.

Oakland Symphony loads the dice with an all-star cast in this dazzling concert version of the beloved American classic!

The slickest high rollers are in town, and they’re depending on Nathan Detroit to score a secret spot for their floating crap game. Throw in Salvation Army songbird Sarah Brown, who’s short on sinners at the mission; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan’s bet that he can’t lure Sarah to exotic tropical Havana; and the notorious, sniffling showgirl Miss Adelaide, who’s desperate to marry Nathan, and you have an odds-on favorite!

Set in vivid, mid-20th century New York City and buoyed by a Frank Loesser score that is among the most immortal works in theater history, Guys & Dolls has been called “the perfect musical comedy.” The American Masterworks Series closes out the 2016/17 season with this exuberant concert classic, joined by the Oakland Symphony Chorus.
