Oakland Symphony invites you to experience Mixtape – an experimental, boundary-pushing, musical series curated exclusively for Oakland. We’re gathering our favorite local artists together in intimate venues to explore the sights, sounds and voices of our town in a mashup of genres that defies boundaries and creates new connections between artists and audience.

Mixtape, Vol 3: Future Forward is a celebration of the educators and mentors who shape the young voices of Oakland’s future. Partnering with the Oakland Public Education Fund, Future Forward honors People’s Choice Teacher Award recipients and celebrates the kick-off of National Teachers’ Month. With host poets from Youth Speaks, Future Forward showcases the remarkable relationship between the artist and mentor featuring Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra member Nicholas Reeves accompanied by his teacher and Oakland Symphony cellist Joe Hébert, celebrated Oakland music pedagogue The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol featuring Joe Warner supported by Oakland Symphony musicians, and more. Come together as we turn The New Parish into a jazz club in true Symphony style.
