Closing out the 2014/15 season, the students of the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra perform one of Brahms’ most important works. The concert opens with the winner of a composers’ competition who will write for the brass and percussion students in the orchestra.

Suk - Scherzo Fantastique

Sir Charles Mackerras conducts the Czech Philarmonic Orchestra in this rarely performed masterpiece by Suk. The work has much lyricism, but as the title suggest, rhythmic play is at the heart of this work.

Mariss Jansons leads the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in a live performance of Brahms' monumental First Symphony.
