Clara Griffin

An avid musician, Clara Griffin has studied cello for over eight years, studying with Sergei Riabtchenko since 2012. She is a freshman at Maybeck High School and a graduate of The Crowden School, a day school in Berkeley that offers a rigorous daily music program, where she performed in numerous ensembles and became interested in composing. Russian Overture is Clara’s first composition for full orchestra. In the past she has composed mainly for chamber ensembles.

Her composition teachers include Arkadi Serper and Robert Yamasato. Clara performed as a soloist in the Junior Bach Festival in 2016, and with Crowden School ensembles in 2014 and 2015. She is a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, and has participated in past summer music festivals including San Francisco Conservatory of Music Summer Music West and the Crowden Chamber Music Workshop. This summer she will be attending Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute.
