Summer Sing-In Series: Cherubini Requiem in C minor

Maestro Michael Morgan will lead you in this all-choral Requiem Mass setting. This work premiered in January 1816, so our performance next season will be its 200th anniversary. It was commissioned by Louis XVIII in commemoration of the executions of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Cherubini introduced Mozart’s Requiem to Paris and his work has some structural similarities. It is unusual and economic with all choral polyphonic singing.
