Mingye Wang

violin

Mingye Wang, a sophomore at Dublin High School, has been studying violin for about 10 years. He has participated in various competitions throughout the Bay Area, and currently studies under James Choi. He is now in his fifth year of OSYO, and was fortunate enough to have the honor of performing in Cuba when the YO went on tour there in 2016. Mingye also plays in his school orchestra, where he was the co-concertmaster in his freshman year, and now plays as the principal violist. Outside of orchestra, Mingye has also participated in his school wind ensemble, the DHS Irish Guard, playing bass trombone for concerts and sousaphone for marching season. Currently in his free time, Mingye enjoys both composing and arranging music, and he’s currently teaching himself the trumpet, which he hopes to bring into competition one year.
