Mary-Jo Knight

Mary-Jo Knight studied voice at The New School, NYC, and with Barbara Maier and Jane Woodside. She has been a soprano focused on choral works since 1983, initially under the baton of David Randolph with The Masterwork Chorus, NJ.   She recently retired from the Oratorio Society of New York after 30 years, singing Handel’s “Messiah” in Carnegie Hall under the batons of Lyndon Woodside and Kent Tritle. She has sung for over 25 years abroad with the Oratorio Society of New York and is on its Board of Directors as Emeritus.

Currently, Knight sings with the Oakland Symphony Chorus and serves on the Chorus Committee and the Symphony’s 2017 Gala Committee. She has lived in Alameda, CA, since 2015 with her partner, J. Michael Parish, and Alto, their cat.
