Jessica Cao

Jessica Cao, a junior at Mission San Jose High School, started playing violin at age seven. In elementary school, she developed a passion for orchestra, participating in the Fremont Youth Symphony and Berkeley Youth Orchestra. In her first year of high school, she also had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall as part of the American Honors Performance Orchestra. Jessica is now under the instruction of Wei He and enjoying her fourth year at the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra. She also plays the Chinese harp (GuZheng) and won the Chinese Music Teachers Association of Northern California International Youth Music Competition and the Princeton International Chinese Music Competition in 2012. Jessica Cao enjoys helping out with her middle school teacher’s orchestras, playing badminton, and teaching herself piano. She plans to continue studying violin in college, either with a double major or minor in music.
