Character tenor Christopher Fernandez is pleased to make his Oakland East Bay Symphony debut in Candide, reprising his role from the 2005 production at Festival Opera under the baton of Maestro Morgan. Mr. Fernandez has been seen on the stages of Festival Opera, West Bay Opera, Pocket Opera and Opera San Jose, performing the world’s favorite character roles: Bardolfo (Falstaff), Goro (Madama Butterfly), Don Basilio (Le Nozze Di Figaro), Sellem (The Rake’s Progress), The Grotesques (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), and many more. Mr. Fernandez studied voice at New Mexico State University and privately in The Bay Area with world class talent such as James Toland, Joseph Frank, and Olivia Stapp. He holds an undergraduate degree from San Jose State University, where he participated in the Opera Workshop program, led by the late Irene Dalis. Representing his hometown, Mr. Fernandez is a two-time winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
