Carla Picchi
Violin
Carla Picchi plays extensively with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and is currently in the Oakland East Bay Symphony and the Festival Opera Orchestra, where she has been Concertmaster. She also frequently performs with the Santa Rosa Symphony, and freelances throughout the Bay Area.
Ms. Picchi was a founding member of La Dolce Musica String Quartet and was on the faculty at Mills College. She received her B.A. at UC Santa Cruz and attended the Music Academy of the West (where her quartet won the quartet award), the California Music Center and the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Picchi was Co-founder of Chamber Music Berkeley and led a string quartet for twelve years for the San Francisco Symphony Adventures in Music Program and Music at Kohl.
Ms. Picchi currently coaches the violins at the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and the College Preparatory School, where she also coaches chamber music. As a mentor teacher with the Oakland East Bay Symphony she assists music teachers at elementary and middle schools in Oakland. Ms. Picchi maintains a private teaching studio in Oakland.
