Let Us Break Bread Together on December 11

November 9, 2016

It’s that time of year again! It starts to get a little darker earlier in the day, there is a certain spirit in the air, and we see twinkling lights around our neighborhoods and streets. The holidays are upon us and it is time to celebrate with Oakland Symphony’s nontraditional holiday tradition – Let Us Break Bread Together!

Let Us Break Bread Together: Music from the Era of Black Panthers is Sunday, December 11, 4 PM at the Paramount Theatre. 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panthers, and an important time in Oakland’s history. Oakland Symphony will perform music from the time including Motown classics, gospel and protest music of the 60’s and 70’s. The concert will feature Oakland Symphony Chorus, Linda Tillery and Friends, Vocal Rush, Kugelplex, Mt. Eden High School Concert Choir, and Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir.
