Mixtape, Vol 4: Amplify is here to turn the volume up! Co-presented by the JCC East Bay, Amplify upholds historically marginalized and silenced voices, creating a space for expression and collaboration across genres and backgrounds. Co-curated by True Skool, Amplify showcases the talents of Hip Hop for Change Emcees Khafre Jay and Rico Pabon, each in a set of their own verses, backed by a collaboration of Jazz Mafia and Oakland Symphony players in a mashup of musical histories. With an a cappella chorus from Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir interwoven between sets through the evening singing traditional spirituals, Amplify will cross cultural and geographic backgrounds as the Symphony brings some of the best of Oakland up to Berkeley. Come together at the JCC East Bay for the last Mixtape of the season on June 14 at 7:30pm. Tickets $15 in advance, $20 at the door for this all ages show.
