Beethoven changed the course of musical history with his fifth symphony – expressing his world view in a way no composer had done before. Shostakovich used his symphonies as statements, expressing himself as an artist while working within the strict confines of the Russian communist government. Maestro Morgan celebrates his 60th birthday in conducting these two monumental works.
