Young Composer Competition

 

 

The Young Composer’s Competition is an annual competition that helps provide young and talented bay area composers with an opportunity to compose for a symphony orchestra.  The competition is open to bay area composers 24 years old or younger at time of application deadline.  Applicants must be either US citizens, Permanent Residents, or currently studying music in the US with a Student Visa.  

The winning composer will be commissioned by the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra to compose a work for the 2016-17 season.  The composer will receive feedback and guidance from Youth Orchestra Principal Conductor Omid Zoufonoun.  All expenses for the reproduction of scores and parts will be covered by the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra.  An archive recording of the premiere performance will also be provided.
